KEN SCHERER

President/Founder Scherer Strategies

As President/Founder of Scherer Strategies, Ken advises clients on philanthropic mission strategy, corporate sponsorships and event production, major gift solicitation, and Board recruitment. He works with a variety of clients including the American Cinematheque, Musical Instrument Museum (MIM) and the Joe Torre Safe at Home Foundation. 

Prior to launching his own company, Ken was CEO of the Motion Picture & Television Fund Foundation, which has supported the entertainment community with health and social services for almost 100 years. During his twenty-two-year tenure at MPTF, he worked closely with key entertainment industry leaders and executives in building a special events program that raised over $10 million annually including the highly profile celebrity events the Night Before (Oscar) event and its Emmy counterpart the Evening Before and Michael Douglas & Friends Celebrity golf telecast on ABC and NBC.

Ken leveraged these events to secure and implemented multi-year event sponsorship commitments from Target, L’Oréal, Ford, Delta Airlines, People Magazine, The Hollywood Reporter, Chrysler, Mazda, and Lexus.  He recently concluded a partnership arrangement between Netflix and his client the non-profit American Cinematheque in the joint use of the historic Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood.

Previously, Ken was a partner in Mark Frost Productions where he developed and produced the critically acclaimed TNT film Crazy Horse.  Ken also served as COO and oversaw production at Lynch/Frost Productions where he worked on the groundbreaking series Twin Peaks (ABC) American Chronicles (Fox), On The Air (ABC), a feature documentary Hugh Hefner: Once Upon A Time and the feature film Twin Peaks – Fire Walk With Me (New Line Cinema). 

Earlier in Ken’s career, he worked as the Director of Development at The American Film Institute (AFI) where he led a successful marketing/fundraising program and was the director of the $150 million capital campaign for Georgetown University.

Ken was a founding member and continues to serve on the National Football League’s Player Care Foundation, which is committed to serving the retired NFL players in all aspects of their life.  

Ken has an M.S. in Non-Profit Management from Syracuse University.
